The Festival des Vieilles Charrues has been held annually in France since 1992. Senior Luis Santillan experienced this music festival last summer. To this day, he still wears the bracelet that he received from attending.
“I can tell people about it,” Santillan said. “If they ask me how it was, I have something to show that I was there.”
This was his first trip to travel abroad.
“The opportunity I had to travel to France was also the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I had to meet all those famous people,” Santillan said.
The music festival lasted for four days from July 14-17 and several of Santillan’s favorite artists performed.
“I have always been a fan of Snoop Dogg. I enjoyed being able to see him perform,” Santillan said. “Also David Guetta, the way he performed on stage that night was just completely amazing.”
Last year 270,000 people attended the music festival.
“I was the only person out of the 270,000 people that attended the festival to be backstage while Snoop Dogg performed,” he said. “It was an amazing experience because you get to feel what the artist feels while he is on stage singing. Looking in front of you and seeing a massive ocean of people just there is not an everyday experience.”
Not only was this his first trip abroad, but also his first concert ever.
“The environment feeling of the concert was just unique that I can’t describe,” Santillan said. “It was just people enjoying music to the max. Depending on the day they were dancing to it, singing along and even crowd surfing. Everybody was having fun,”
When the bracelet finally falls off, which will be soon, he plans to hang it on his wall along with other souvenirs from France.
“It will represent another travel memory,” Santillan said.
