Eagles varsity tennis have had such an amazing year and are still moving forward. They made it past district and a few players made it to regionals. Those players are Jett Cartwright, Quinten Buisine, Tayler Branscum, and London Holmes.

The Eagles started the year off strong with Holmes and Branscum becoming district champs as a doubles team. Cartwright and Buisine ended up placing second.

In order to win regionals, I plan to stay focused. If I let my mind wander from what I am doing, I am sure to fail. I also need to stay energized so that I do not get too tired. My net play is almost completely based on placement. The placement of the ball is extremely important. That includes base line play as well,” sophomore London Holmes said.

“I would say my most memorable moment so far would have to be my last game that won district. We had actually lost the first set of the match. It wasn’t looking too good. We had barely managed to win the second set making it a tiebreaker. At that point, we had woken up, and had figured out the best strategies to win the game. That is how we easily won the last set,” Holmes said.

The Decatur tennis team has had an amazing season so far and have made great memories. They will do everything they can to win regionals for our school and we are ready to cheer them on.
