Eagles soar into BOBS with 2-2 record

After being defeated the first game of the season 49-21, the football team kept their heads held high and the Eagles moved on to play at the Battle of Big Sandy.

The first game took place in Springtown, and unfortunately the odds were not in our favor.

“I felt like in the first half we left 21 points on the field that we could’ve had if we had just executed a few plays differently,” Head Football Coach Mike Fuller said. “We had chances for three more touchdowns. From a defensive standpoint I think the biggest thing is we needed to just stay focused on the next play.”

Though the outcome of the game did not turn out as planned, the team still kept their hopes up, and with good reason, too.

“We’ve got the talent, we’re gonna have the effort and with that, really we can’t be stopped,” senior Jacob Kevetter said. “It’s gonna go great. You can’t judge a season based off the first game.”

And he was right. The second game was the Dale Hansen Classic, which took place on a Saturday in Waxahachie, against Alvarado. The game was called during the last eight minutes of the fourth quarter due to a lightning delay resulting in a 34-28 win for the Eagles.

The third game called for two things: cold weather and another win. The Iowa Park Hawks scored a touchdown at the beginning of the game in under 30 seconds, but that didn’t stop the Eagles from bringing the ball right back to the end zone shortly after, ultimately ending in a victory for the Eagles 39-34.

The first home game was against the Ranchview Wolves and ended in a loss for the Eagles 39-50.

The next match is the Battle of Big Sandy at Eagle Stadium tomorrow.
