All About Love

Staffer reflects on the meaning of love

All+About+Love

Love is a word that casually gets tossed around time and time again. For instance “I love those shoes” or young couples telling each other “I love you.” I feel that people are just in love with the idea of love. No one really has the slightest idea of what love means. The textbook definition of love is: an intense feeling of deep affection. People nowadays just overuse the word and never take into consideration what the word actually means.

Love means going to the ends of the earth, then back again for someone you love. It is not something to take lightly and throw around like a ragdoll. New couples should not be able to say, “I love you” to each other. Love is something way more meaningful to say in a new relationship. New couples don’t really have the right to tell each other those words. They are new and haven’t really gotten into the deepness of each other to be able to express such feelings toward one another. It is uncalled for.

Fighting about meaningless stuff, but still ending up there for each other in the long run; that is what love is. It’s a great feeling; it’s like waking up on Christmas day. All of the butterflies and static shocks going throughout your body feeling like collapsing in that moment is the feeling of love.

I personally have not experienced love in a relationship, yet in other ways. But, love doesn’t necessarily have to be for relationships; it can be experienced between families. Families show the most love out of anyone. Their love makes you feel a sense of completeness. Like when I came home from school and told my mom about my “boy” troubles. She comforted me and told me that everything would be fine and I believed it in that moment. Her warm hug and comforting words made me feel wanted, and nothing was going to harm me. Love in that way is the best kind you can experience.
