Baseball coach Brian Tickell and softball coach Carly Cloud have their teams prepped and ready for the upcoming season.

Tickell is starting his second season as head baseball coach. This year, the baseball program has made some choices.

“We’re excited about having three teams this year where more kids can be involved in the baseball program,” Tickell said.

On top of the excitement for the fresh season, there also comes obstacles.

“There is always some form of adversity during the season and whatever it is I see our kids overcoming it,” Tickell said. “As a coach you hope the players bond together and become one unit so that if we have an obstacle in front of us we’ll all be pulling on the same side of the rope.”

Last year, the baseball team advanced as far as area finals in playoffs. Alongside going far again, Tickell also has goals for his team aside from a winning record.

“Our goal this year is for every player to do their very best every day and improve on the field and in the classroom,” Tickell said.

In addition to Tickell, Cloud is excited for this year’s softball season.
“I’m most excited about coaching a fun group of girls,” Cloud said.
With her excitement comes expectations as well.
“My goals for the teams are to maintain intensity and focus on every inning of every game, and all practices be competitive in playoffs,” Cloud said.
