The town of Decatur recently welcomed the new and improved Fit-N-Wise on January 9. This redesigned facility brought in over six hundred new members within the first few weeks of opening. The new renovations improve the overall wellness of Wise County, and bring opportunities typically not found in a small town like Decatur.

 

Previously, Fit-N-Wise was located at the main campus of the Wise Health System, but with the growing population and intended renovations, moving locations became necessary.

 

“As the population of Wise County continues to grow, Wise Health System needs to grow as well to accommodate the influx of patients,” Marketing and Communications Director of Wise Health System, Shannon Puphal said.

 

Wise Health System’s ultimate goal is to build a patient tower somewhere in the near future. In order for that plan to be put into action, the main hospital must increase the main operations plant and expand services such as the pharmacy, central supply, and cafeteria. Some of the services were also too large for the former facility, so with these

things in mind, moving Fit-N-Wise to a larger, more convenient location was the first step to putting these plans into action. 

 

Fit-N-Wise offers a variety of programs that include, an outdoor and indoor pool, sauna and steam rooms, dedicated fitness rooms, a Y.O.U.T.H child center, a dedicated walking track, brand new machines and workout equipment, and much more. Fit-N-Wise branched out and has become the official training center for the Decatur High School

swim team. With that being said, Decatur is not the only school that benefits.

 

“Many local high schools train at our facility,” Puphal said, “We provide athletic trainers to more than 40 local schools.”

 

Feedback has been very positive. The members, new and old, enjoy the renovated space fitting their many needs. The growth from day one of the opening has been exceptional, with more than eleven hundred people using the facility daily.

 

The new and improved Fit-N-Wise serves people and improves their general wellness one step at a time. The small town of Decatur is fortunate to have access to resources such as this remarkable Fit-N-Wise.
