The physics department earned a $5000 grant from Conoco Phillips that allowed them to purchase five set ups for a diffraction and interference lab. These labs work with Data Studio, a program used on the student laptops, to gather data from these labs. It allows students to measure the opening width of .04 mm with 95% accuracy and has the ability to physically distinquish between diffraction pattern and interference pattern.
